SolarPanelRecycling.com (SPR), a US-based solar panel recycling operator, has expanded its North Carolina headquarters with a 50,000 sq ft facility. The new plant has increased annual recycling capacity from 500,000 panels to 1.5 million panels, tripling overall processing ability in the state. SPR has introduced a fourth advanced system using thermal separation, which is integrated with existing bifacial panel processes to enhance material recovery. Facilities in Texas and Georgia were already processing about 1 million panels annually, supporting SPR’s nationwide recycling operations. The expansion is aligned with upcoming North Carolina legislation effective November 1, 2025, requiring recycling compliance for projects above 2 MW. SPR has announced additional facilities are planned for 2026, and its expanded capabilities will be presented at RE+ 2025 in Las Vegas. In the same state, SolarPanelRecycling and SEIA had introduced a PV recycling program, underscoring continued focus on structured decommissioning practices.
