Brussels-based solar industry association SolarPower Europe has signed an MoU with Greenpeace, an Amsterdam-headquartered environmental NGO at the SolarPower Summit in Brussels. The agreement aims to expand PV portfolio in Ukraine to address energy disruptions caused by the recent Russian invasion. It prioritizes installations for essential infrastructure, including hospitals and schools, to enhance grid reliability. The effort aligns with Greenpeace’s Solar Energy Marshall Plan, a roadmap developed by Berlin Economics to scale Ukraine’s solar capacity. The collaboration also explores funding opportunities under the EU’s Ukraine Facility, which allocates up to €50 billion (~$54 billion) from 2024 to 2027. As part of the broader Solar Supports Ukraine campaign, SolarPower Europe, RePower Ukraine, BSW, and Energy Act for Ukraine are actively deploying solar systems on public buildings.
