Paris-based SNCF Energie, Octopus Energy Generation, and BayWa r.e.have signed two Corporate Power Purchase Agreements with SNCF Voyageurs to supply renewable electricity for rail operations in France. The Greenberry and Fontenet 3 solar farms, developed by BayWa r.e. and owned by Octopus’ Sky fund, were expected to generate over 100 GWh of power annually and 2.5 TWh over 25 years. Located on former military bases in Central and South-West France, the sites were converted into solar facilities. The agreements marked BayWa r.e.’s and Octopus’ first CPPAs in France and supported SNCF Voyageurs’ target to source 20% of its power from PPAs. Octopus managed more than 500 MW of renewable assets and supplied energy to about 600,000 French homes.
