The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) has signed its first loan deal with the Solomon Islands, giving $10 million for a renewable energy project. The money helped build 35.5 MW solar power plants with hourly energy storage. The project aimed to cut down on the country’s use of traditional energy and improve its energy systems. It also supported local economic growth. This agreement began official development work between SFD and the Solomon Islands. It showed SFD’s growing role in helping small island countries deal with energy and environmental needs through better infrastructure.
