Ridgefield High School in Connecticut has commissioned a 1.038 MW solar carport that is designed to generate 1.3 million kWh annually. The installation is expected to deliver $1.5 million in savings over 25 years and has expanded Ridgefield’s municipal solar initiative. Davis Hill Development, a Massachusetts-based solar project developer, was responsible for development, while AEC Solar, a Connecticut-based EPC contractor, was the engineering, procurement, and construction partner. Financing has been supported by the Connecticut Green Bank, with tax equity provided by Patriot Renewable Energy Capital. The solar carport was also qualified for federal Investment Tax Credits under the Inflation Reduction Act and has been integrated across four Town and School meters. The project is participating in Connecticut’s NRES, ZREC, and Class I REC programs, which were designed to support renewable electricity generation. Davis Hill Development has reported that it has developed and continues operating nearly 200 distributed energy projects across 15 states.
