Renewable Energy Testing Center (RETC), a Fremont-based independent PV module testing laboratory, has released its preliminary PV Module Index Report in June 2025. The report is based on module data collected between Q2 2024 and Q1 2025 and includes results from 14 reliability and performance sequences. According to RETC, 13% of all tested PV module models earned the “Overall Highest Achiever” designation for meeting top benchmarks. Among 21 manufacturers recognized in individual sequences, only 12 met the combined thresholds for overall recognition. RETC has applied red-flag criteria, data distribution thresholds, and engineering judgment supported by scientific literature to define qualification standards. The “Highest Achiever” title is awarded to manufacturers demonstrating consistent excellence across reliability, performance, and quality. A final version of the report, including remaining long-duration test results, is scheduled for release in September 2025.
