reNIKOLA Holdings, a Malaysia-based renewable energy producer, has been shortlisted under the Large Scale Solar 5+ programme to deliver two projects with a combined capacity of 618 MW. According to reNIKOLA, the projects are expected to supply clean energy for 21 years and generate nearly RM 1.2 billion (~ $285.37 million) in direct investment. reNIKOLA stated that both projects are scheduled for commissioning by the end of 2027, aligning with Malaysia’s broader efforts to diversify its power mix. The government is working to reduce coal reliance by more than doubling renewable capacity and increasing gas-fired generation by 50% by 2030, driven by rising electricity demand from data centres and the need to enhance domestic renewable power supply capabilities.
