Release by Scatec, majority owned by Scatec ASA, has signed lease agreements for 64 MW of solar power and 10 MWh of battery storage in Liberia and Sierra Leone. The projects are supported by IFC through a $100 million loan and a $65 million guarantee facility established in 2023. In Liberia, a 15-year lease was signed with Liberia Electricity Corporation for a 24 MW solar and 10 MWh BESS project near Monrovia. In Sierra Leone, a 40 MW solar project was agreed with EGTC and the Ministry of Energy. Both projects are the first to use Release’s new panel mounting structure designed in South Africa. Release is jointly owned by Scatec and Climate Fund Managers through the EU-backed Climate Investor One Fund.
