The quA-ymn Solar Project, which BluEarth Renewables said is British Columbia’s first major commercial solar facility, began operations on June 19, 2025. The 24-hectare plant is located in Logan Lake, about 50 km southwest of Kamloops, on land reclaimed for energy use. The facility includes 39,000 solar panels and, is expected to power more than 2,400 homes annually for up to 40 years. BluEarth Renewables, a Calgary-based IPP, partnered with shQUAQUash Energy in 2019 to jointly develop the project. shQUAQUash Energy, representing the Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council, had initiated the project in 2011 to support long-term community revenue and governance. The Canada Infrastructure Bank has financed the project development. The project has been structured to provide long-term revenue for Nlaka’pamux, support local jobs, and align with Indigenous-led regional energy planning.
