Qair, an independent renewable energy company, has secured financing from SBM Bank (Mauritius) Ltd to implement its 60 MW Stor’Sun I and II hybrid solar PV and BESS projects in Mauritius. According to Qair, the projects were awarded in 2023 as part of four hybrid solar plus BESS developments totaling 60 MW AC, marking one of the country’s largest energy infrastructure initiatives. Qair has been active in Mauritius since 2008, operating a 10 MW wind farm and solar parks totaling 25.3 MW. As per SBM Bank, the financing supports grid stability and greater renewable integration, aligning with Mauritius’s goal of achieving 60% renewable energy by 2030. Qair stated the initiative is part of its pan-African strategy, with operations and developments in multiple countries and a pipeline exceeding 2 GW. Recently,Qair has secured €17.2 million (~$ 19.8 million) financing for its 18 MW solar project near Dédougou, Burkina Faso.
