US-based Puget Sound Energy (PSE) has started phased construction of the 142 MW Appaloosa Solar Project in southeastern Washington. The project is partially co-located with PSE’s Lower Snake River Wind Facility in Garfield County and is designed to use existing transmission infrastructure, reducing costs and minimizing local impacts. Once operational in late 2026, the facility is expected to power over 30,000 homes and provide about 4% toward PSE’s 2030 clean energy goals. Construction is creating about 300 jobs through labor and community workforce agreements with local and diverse suppliers included when available. Garfield County granted a conditional use permit in July 2024 following extensive community engagement.Qcells EPC was selected as module supplier and EPC contractor.
