Premier Energies, headquartered in India, has paused its planned 1GW solar cell facility in the United States due to policy uncertainty. The company partnered with North American solar manufacturer Heliene in July 2024, expecting incentives under the Inflation Reduction Act. In January 2025, President Trump halted federal spending on clean energy programs introduced by the previous administration, suspended tax credits supporting solar and wind projects, and withdrew from the Paris climate agreement. His administration also paused offshore wind power leasing, prioritized domestic oil and gas production, and reassessed clean energy subsidies. These changes disrupted clean energy investments, delaying Premier Energies’ project until policy clarity emerges. The company confirmed in an investor call that the project remains in long-term plans but will not proceedimmediately.
