Premier Energies, an India-based solar manufacturer headquartered in Hyderabad, has commissioned a 1.2GW TOPCon solar cell line at Fab City. The company said that this new facility has increased its total solar cell manufacturing capacity to 3.2GW with over 25% efficiency. Premier Energies has utilized TOPCon technology with a 16-busbar architecture to enhance power density and energy output. The company is among the early Indian manufacturers to adopt TOPCon technology for large-scale solar cell production. Premier Energies has announced plans to expand its capacity to 8.4GW for cells and 11.1GW for modules by June 2026. The company stated that its expansion supports India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative by strengthening domestic manufacturing and reducing dependence on solar imports. Earlier this year, Premier Energies and SAS jointly invested in a 2GW solar wafer plant in India, with SAS securing a 26% equity stake.
