Residents around the Panchet reservoir said upcoming solar installations by DVC and Green Valley Renewable Energy are expected to restrict fishing areas essential for daily income. Communities reported that nearly 2,500 fisherfolk earning INR 500 to INR 800 were worried their access would reduce once project activity begins. Villagers added that earlier Panchet acquisition displaced 10,339 families across 33,898.73 acres with documentation still unresolved. These concerns were cited as the main factor behind protests involving about 3,000 residents intensifying.
