Romania-based OMV Petrom, integrated energy producer in South-Eastern Europe and Complexul Energetic Oltenia (CE Oltenia) partnered to develop four solar parks in Romania. The total planned capacity increased to 550 MW after design improvements. The parks will be built on CE Oltenia’s land in Gorj and Dolj counties. The energy will go into the national grid and is expected to power around 410,000 homes annually. Three parks-Rovinari, Tismana 1, and Tismana 2—totaling about 460 MW will be handled by a consortium of Ameresco and Sunel, and the fourth a 90 MW Ișalnița park by Girisim Elektrik. The total investment exceeds €400 million, with around 70% funded through the EU’s Modernisation Fund. Ownership is equally shared between OMV Petrom and CE Oltenia. Recently, OMV Petrom commenced first solar project in Romania.
