California-based Nextracker has launched an AI and robotics initiative, investing over $40 million across four quarters to acquire three technologies. The acquisitions include OnSight Technology, SenseHawk IP, and Amir Robotics. OnSight provides robotic inspection and fire detection tools, now available in the US. SenseHawk IP enables AI-driven 3D mapping using drone imagery to support site commissioning. Amir Robotics developed a water-free robotic cleaning system under testing at multiple commercial solar sites. These technologies have been integrated into Nextracker’s digital infrastructure to enhance solar plant performance and reduce operational risks. Dr. Francesco Borrelli was appointed chief AI and robotics officer to lead this global integration.
