The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), India, has reported 100 GW of PV module manufacturing capacity under the ALMM in 2025. India’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM)-listed capacity was 2.3 GW in 2014, showing substantial growth driven by policy measures and manufacturing expansion over the past decade. MNRE has stated that the ALMM Order was issued on January 2, 2019, with the first list published in March 2021 at 8.2 GW. Since 2021, the number of listed manufacturers has risen from 21 to 100, operating 123 manufacturing units across various regions of the country. The Production Linked Incentive Scheme for High-Efficiency Solar PV Modules has encouraged vertically integrated, high-efficiency production among both established companies and new market entrants. This manufacturing growth is aligned with India’s target of achieving 500 GW non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 while meeting domestic demand and boosting global solar trade presence.
