Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, has installed over 3,330 solar panels in the Geothermal Solar Array and Thomson Lot Solar Array within the University’s campus grounds. Melink Solar, a US-based developer and installer of solar energy systems, has stated that the project began in May 2025. The arrays are located above the Western Geothermal well field near Hillcrest Hall and at the former Thomson Hall site. Once final equipment is installed and the systems are connected to the electric grid later this fall, they are expected to generate about 2,121 MWh annually. The deployments are part of the Sharon and Graham Mitchell Sustainability Park, funded by a $5 million donation from Sharon Janosik Mitchell and Graham Mitchell. Construction of the park is scheduled to start this fall and will include walking paths, seating areas, lighting, and gateways along State Route 73 and Western Drive.
