Madison Energy Infrastructure, based in Tysons Corner, Virginia, has announced that it entered into an agreement to acquire NextEra Energy Resources’ distributed generation development platform. The transaction, subject to closing conditions, included operating solar and energy storage assets, a pipeline of development projects, and customers across 25 states. The acquisition expanded Madison’s portfolio to over 500 projects serving sectors such as irrigation districts, wastewater treatment plants, cold storage, retail, real estate, and K-12 schools. Following completion, Madison was set to own nearly 1 GW of operating distributed clean energy assets nationwide. The deal followed earlier acquisitions of Pro-Tech Energy Solutions and Sun Tribe Solar. Vinson & Elkins LLP served as legal counsel to Madison.
