Low Carbon, a UK-based renewable energy investment and development company, has finalised the sale of the Gate Burton Energy Park to EDF power solutions UK. The 500 MW solar and battery project is in Lincolnshire. It got government approval on 12 July 2024. Once operational, it can power about 160,000 homes every year. The project also includes battery storage, which helps keep the power supply steady when solar energy is low. This is one of the first large-scale solar projects consented after the 2024 general election. The deal allows Low Carbon to focus on its broader UK and global renewable portfolio, which includes over 1 GW in operation and over 400 MW of new projects expected soon.
