LONGi Solar, a China-based manufacturer of PV modules, has partnered with Nofar Energy, an Israel-based independent power producer, for Romania’s 282 MW Corbii Mari project in Dâmbovița County. The facility is scheduled to begin operations in 2026 and is expected to deploy more than 430,000 LONGi Hi-MO 9 back contact modules. These modules have efficiencies of 24.8%, and the installation is recognized as the largest back contact deployment in Europe to date. The plant is expected to generate 380 GWh of electricity annually, which is sufficient to power more than 50,000 households in Romania. Nofar Energy has said the project is its largest overseas independent power producer initiative, reinforcing its European growth strategy. LONGi Solar has stated that the project is demonstrating the maturity, reliability, and bankability of back contact technology for utility-scale solar adoption.
