kWh Analytics, a US-based solar risk management firm, has released its 2025 Solar Risk Assessment report detailing key threats to PV and BESS systems. According to kWh Analytics, 99.27% of PV plants face a 10% annual probability of hail over 2 inches, with hail causing 73% of solar damage by cost. The report stated that US solar plants have underperformed by 8.6% on average, while AI tools without domain-specific training misidentified up to 20% of faults. Cybersecurity vulnerabilities were also highlighted as persistent. In battery systems, 28% of units inspected in 2024 had fire suppression flaws, and 72% of failures occurred within two years. kWh Analytics added that battery state-of-charge estimation errors exceeded 15% in many systems, affecting accuracy and reliability.
