Kardinia Energy, an Australia-based developer of recyclable solar technology, has deployed its Printed Solar modules at Coldplay’s concerts on May 31 and June 1 at Stanford Stadium. The modules, weighing 300 g/m², were installed over seating areas and integrated with the band’s battery system to power stage and backstage operations. Kardinia Energy has used a roll-to-roll printing process, originally designed for wine labels, to produce the non-silicon modules at low cost. According to Kardinia Energy, the Stanford deployment was one of the largest live concert uses of mobile solar systems in the US. The company has confirmed that the system will be used at upcoming tour stops in Las Vegas, El Paso, Miami, and Foxborough. Kardinia Energy also plans to extend the application of Printed Solar to off-grid, industrial, and disaster response scenarios.
