A government delegation from The Gambia, led by the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy with senior officials from Finance, Water, and Electricity authorities, has visited JA Solar’s Beijing headquarters in September 2025. The discussions were focused on strengthening renewable energy cooperation. JA Solar was the exclusive module supplier for The Gambia’s first utility-scale solar facility, the 23 MW Jambur Solar PV Plant. The project was grid-connected in 2024 and has provided electricity to more than 18,500 households. It has supplied nearly 10% of the country’s electricity demand and increased renewable generation by 20%. The Jambur plant is a milestone in The Gambia’s plan to achieve 50% renewable electricity by 2030 and aligns with its Climate Vision 2050, targeting 250 MW solar by 2040.
