Australia-based Macquarie Asset Management, a global financial services group, has acquired full ownership of Island Green Power by purchasing an additional 50 percent stake. Island Green Power, founded in 2013, has developed more than 3 GW of solar projects and has over 15 GW in its UK pipeline. It recently received approval for the Cottam and West Burton solar farms. Island Green Power’s UK operations will now focus on becoming an independent power producer, while the founders will retain ownership of Island Green Power’s international business. Island Green Power is expected to help the UK meet its solar targets for 2030. Macquarie has already invested heavily in UK infrastructure and plans to continue.
