The International Energy Agency has reported global clean energy investment reached $2 trillion in 2024, with $2 spent for every $1 on fossil fuels. In the power sector, clean technologies were 10 times higher than fossil fuels. COP28 set collective goals for a fair transition, but gaps in access and funding were evident. Africa received $40 billion, leaving 550 million people without modern energy access by 2030. Southeast Asia was estimated to need $47 billion annually by 2035. Small island nations were limited by storage and grid access, while Latin America has expanded renewables but remained dependent on fossil fuels and faced financing shortages. The Global Energy Transitions Forum was launched to unite governments, banks and institutions in de-risking investments, with global targets set at 11 TW renewable capacity by 2030.
