Imerys and ENGIE signed a 10-year virtual Power Purchase Agreement (vPPA) for 2 TWh of renewable electricity in Spain. ENGIE planned to develop and operate three solar farms, scheduled for commissioning between late 2026 and early 2027. The agreement covered 24 % of Imerys’ annual electricity needs in Continental Europe, expected to cut 70,000 tons of CO₂ equivalent each year and reduce Scope 2 emissions by about 35 % by 2028. The deal followed Imerys’ earlier 15-year vPPA in the United States and other solar installations across several regions. ENGIE, which had signed over 85 PPAs totaling 4.3 GW in 2024, continued to expand its renewable capacity toward 95 GW by 2030.
ENGIE to build three solar farms under 10-year deal with Imerys in Spain
The 10-year Imerys-ENGIE vPPA in Spain aimed to deliver 2 TWh of renewable power, reducing 70,000 t CO₂ annually and boosting clean capacity.
