Imerys, a mineral-based specialty solutions provider, has signed a 15-year power purchase agreement with Akuo, a French independent renewable energy producer, for a 195MW solar PV plant in Coke County, Texas. Akuo will build and operate the plant, with 57MW dedicated to Imerys’ operations. The plant is expected to produce 153GWh of electricity annually, supplying 30% of Imerys’ US electricity needs. It will reduce Imerys’ CO₂ emissions by 67,000 tons per year, accounting for 3% of its scope 1 and 2 emissions.Construction, set to be completed in H2 2026, will engage up to 400 workers. This marks Akuo’s first solar project in the US and adds to Imerys’ existing PPAs in the UK, Bahrain, China, and Malaysia. The agreement supports Imerys’ 2030 target of a 42% GHG reduction, avoiding over 1 million tons of CO₂ emissions during the contract period.
