JMK Research, an India-based energy consultancy, has projected that India will add 30.2 GW of new solar capacity in FY2026, including 21.1 GW from utility-scale, 7 GW from rooftop, and 2.05 GW from off-grid systems. Wind capacity is expected to rise by 6 GW during the same period. In the immediate future, JMK Research has projected 11.9 GW of utility-scale solar and 3.8 GW of wind capacity additions in the next two quarters. India's renewable capacity as of March 2025 is 220.1 GW, with solar representing 48% and wind representing 23%. A 143.8 GW pipeline awaits commissioning in the next five years, and another 66.1 GW awaits bidding. FY2025 recorded 26.2 GW of new capacity across solar and wind segments.
