Switzerland-based, The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), have called for a fivefold rise in renewable energy capacity to 11,000 GW by 2030. IEC President Jo Cops said at the 89th General Meeting in New Delhi that global standards are required to ensure solar panels and grid interconnections perform consistently across countries. More than 2,000 experts from over 100 nations were present to work on standards for photovoltaic technology, smart grids, and artificial intelligence governance. India, which is holding the IEC Vice Presidency, is participating in 121 technical committees and is also serving as the Global Secretariat for Standardisation in Low Voltage Direct Current.
