Heliup, a France-based solar technology company, has inaugurated a 100 MW solar panel manufacturing facility in Le Cheylas, Isère. The fab is completely automated, covering 4,000 sq mts of floor space, and has a yearly production capacity of 350,000 light-weight PV panels. The panels, called STIKON, were created in three years in collaboration with the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA). The panels weigh just 5 kg/m², around one-third as heavy as traditional modules, yet maintaining efficiency or durability. The panels, as reported by Heliup, are intended for the roofs of warehouses, logistics centers, and industrial buildings with limited structural load capacities. The company has stated that the factory will also support reindustrialization efforts in France and enable broader deployment of solar PV systems in load-constrained environments.
