Haryana, India, has set a target to install 2.2 lakh rooftop solar systems under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana by 2026–27. According to the state-level coordination committee, the government has aimed to solarise all government buildings by 31 December 2025 without central financial assistance. Surveys conducted on 4,523 government buildings have identified a combined solar generation potential of 122 MW across the state. As per Haryana’s power department, 30,631 rooftop solar systems have been installed, and state distribution companies have prepared booster schemes to speed up adoption. Haryana has launched the Model Solar Village initiative, selecting one village per district to be fully powered through integrated solar infrastructure. Balu village in Kaithal has been designated the first Model Solar Village, while selections in Karnal and Kurukshetra districts are currently underway.
