Gas Authority of India Limited has signed an MoU with the Karnataka government for a planned investment of ₹5,000 crore (~ $600 million) to develop 1 GW of RE capacity using ground-mounted, rooftop and floating solar, along with wind and storage systems. The state will support land acquisition through KIADB or farmer lease agreements and provide necessary clearances and registrations. The agreement outlines a phased development approach across multiple sites, aligned with GAIL’s capital expenditure plan. The project scope includes technical diversification and land identification within existing solar parks to streamline implementation.
