Shoals Technologies Group, a Tennessee-based provider of electrical balance of systems for solar projects, has strengthened its partnership with Arizona-headquartered First Solar. Shoals has recently began supplying custom junction boxes from its Alabama facility to support First Solar’s domestic operations. The partnership supports reshoring efforts by reinforcing the US solar supply chain through localized component manufacturing. First Solar recently opened a $1.1 billion solar plant in Alabama, creating over 800 jobs and expanding its US production capacity to 3.5 GW, including three facilities in Ohio. In 2023, the company announced another $1.1 billion investment for a fifth US plant in Louisiana. State leaders have backed the partnership, as Shoals’ role highlights how Alabama-made technology and regional manufacturing support rising power demand and national energy infrastructure.
