The European Technology and Innovation Platform for Photovoltaics (ETIP PV), a Brussels-based advisory body, has released a factsheet on BIPV policy measures in Europe. BIPV is classified as both a construction and electrical product under EN 50583 standards and updates to these standards are underway to introduce traceability, recyclability, and circularity requirements for BIPV systems. According to ETIP PV, the Net-Zero Industry Act allows EU Member States to apply Non-Price Criteria in public tenders, including carbon footprint, EU-origin, and recyclability benchmarks. ETIP PV has reported that France and Germany have already introduced BIPV auctions based on these criteria. Austria has provided an additional €150 per kWp (~ $175 ) to support BIPV installations. ETIP PV has also confirmed that BIPV projects are eligible for financial support through public procurement programs, tax incentives, green bonds, and the Recovery and Resilience Facility.
