Enphase Energy, a global supplier of microinverter-based solar and battery systems, partnered with Japan-based ITOCHU Corporation to begin production shipments of IQ8 Microinverters in Japan. The collaboration supports Tokyo’s rooftop solar mandate effective April 1, 2025, requiring solar installations on new homes built by large-scale developers. IQ8 Microinverters are suited for compact rooftops in Tokyo, offering modular system designs and AC architecture for energy management. ITOCHU will distribute the products, and eligible homeowners can access a 20 yen-per-watt subsidy from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. The initial launch includes the IQ8HC model, capable of handling a continuous DC current of 14 amperes and delivering a peak output of 350 VA. All microinverters activated in Japan carry a 25-year warranty. The initiative aims to expand rooftop solar adoption for residences with space and design limitations.
