A leading renewable energy platform, Enlight Renewable Energy has secured an Israel Land Authority tender to develop a site in Ashalim, southern Israel. The 50-acre project includes a data center integrated with solar power and energy storage. Valued at up to $1.1 billion, the project addresses constraints in central Israel by relocating high-consumption infrastructure to an area with existing renewable energy capacity and transmission networks. Ashalim, already equipped with high-voltage transmission and communication lines, offers a more practical location for such developments. The facility will have a 100 MW clean energy capacity, partly supported by on-site solar generation and storage to reduce energy transmission costs. The project reflects a shift in infrastructure planning by aligning large-scale data centers with areas of local renewable energy production.
