Enel North America, a US-based renewable energy subsidiary of the Enel Group, has begun operations at the 556 MW DC GulfStar solar plant in Wharton County, Texas. The facility integrates a 355 MW DC BESS, totaling 911 MW DC, and is Enel’s largest US power project. As per Enel, GulfStar is expected to deliver over $200 million in lifetime economic benefits through local tax and landowner revenue. The BESS began partial operations in late 2024, improving grid stability, while site vegetation will be maintained under the nation’s largest solar grazing contract.
