EDF India partners with Actis for smart metering infrastructure in India

EDF India and UK-based Actis have recently collaborated on a joint venture to operate an Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Provider platform across India. The JV is anticipated to speed-up the deployment of smart meters, leveraging EDF India's energy expertise and Actis' investment capabilities. This collaboration supports India’s National Smart Metering Project, targeting 250 million smart meters by 2025. These meters are expected to improve operational efficiency, reduce distribution losses, and strengthen the financial stability of power companies. The venture also aligns with the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme, driving the adoption of advanced technologies and data analytics to modernize India’s energy infrastructure.
