On-site solar installations and Renewable Energy Certificates have enabled DuPont’s full transition to clean grid power. Image Source: DuPont
DuPont, an US-based provider of advanced materials and industrial solutions, has achieved 100% renewable grid electricity at 13 locations in the EU. The goal was accomplished through solar installations on-site as well as buying bundled and unbundled Renewable Energy Certificates. DuPont states that RECs have facilitated renewable energy attribution in cases of absence of direct green electricity supply. DuPont has joined the RE100 campaign in 2021 and made a commitment of 100% renewable electricity to global operations. The shift is also reducing the carbon footprint of its EU operations and is meeting increasing stakeholder expectations for climate accountability and responsible energy use in industrial activities.
