DESRI, a New York-based renewable energy developer, and El Paso Electric, a Texas-based utility company, have commenced construction of the Santa Teresa Solar and Storage project in New Mexico. El Paso Electric has stated that the facility is designed to integrate a 150MW AC solar power plant with a 600MWh BESS, which is expected to supply electricity to approximately 60,000 homes annually under a 20-year PPA. LG Energy Solution Vertech, a South Korea-based battery manufacturer, has been contracted to deliver US-made battery systems and AEROS energy management software under a long-term service agreement. SOLV Energy, a California-based EPC firm, is overseeing both EPC, and O&M services. DESRI has noted that this is its second project within El Paso Electric’s service area, following the 130MW AC Carne Solar and 260MWh BESS project. Financing was led by DNB Bank ASA and National Bank of Canada, with support from three additional financial institutions.
