London-based clean energy think tank Ember has reported six times increase in Central European solar generation between 2019 and 2024. The region has seen solar electricity production rise from 5 TWh in 2019 to 29 TWh in 2024, more than double the EU average rate of growth. Hungary was also emphasized by Ember as one of the leaders, with the share of solar in national power generation increasing from 4% in 2019 to almost 25% in 2024. Hungary even recorded its highest rate of 42% in June 2025, thus solidifying its place among solar integration leaders in the world. Poland was found to have increased solar production from 0.7 TWh in 2019 to 15 TWh in 2024, backed by 1.5 million prosumers and 23 GW installed base as of mid-2025. Czechia almost doubled solar output to 4 TWh by 2024 after joining the gigawatt market again in 2023 and legalizing agri-PV. Slovakia contributed merely 540 MW in 2023 - 2024, whereas the dependency on coal decreased as Slovakia shut down its remaining coal plant in 2024 and Czechia brought forward its coal phase-out to 2033.
