Madagascar-headquartered AXIAN Energy has signed a $5 million financing agreement with the Fonds pour l’énergie durable en Afrique (SEFA) on May 21, 2025. The funding supported early-stage development of large-scale renewable energy projects across Ivory Coast, Mauritius, Mozambique, Madagascar, Sierra Leone, and Zambia. AXIAN Energy held a 1.5 GW portfolio focused on solar and hydro projects. The agreement aimed to accelerate project implementation and expand AXIAN Energy’s operations across Africa. SEFA’s support enabled local project structuring and targeted early-stage financing. The partnership aligned with the African Development Bank Group’s strategy to support local energy developers through structured financial mechanisms.
