Ardian, the global private investment firm, has agreed to buy all of Energia Group from I Squared Capital, with the deal expected to close in early 2026 after regulatory approval. Energia, one of Ireland’s biggest energy companies, supplied power to about 900,000 homes and businesses across Ireland and Northern Ireland. The company supplied about 17% of Ireland’s electricity and 20% of its wind power, operating across renewables, flexible generation and customer solutions. Under I Squared’s ownership since 2016, Energia expanded into solar, batteries, and hydrogen, strengthening its renewable pipeline and grid infrastructure. The company also partnered with a global technology firm to develop a 165 MW data center in Dublin powered by renewable energy. Ardian planned to use its infrastructure expertise to support Energia’s growth and renewables expansion. The transaction did not affect Energia’s customers, employees, or partners.
