Chinese solar tracker manufacturer Arctech took part in the Africa Energy Forum 2025 in Cape Town. Arctechsaid that it has introduced the Skyline II 1P tracker, which uses adaptive algorithms and smart backtracking to improve terrain flexibility. Arctech has also presented the Starshine I AI-powered, waterless cleaning robot, which is designed specifically for South Africa’s dry climate conditions. Both technologies have shared structural components and are integrated through a SCADA platform that helps reduce O&M risks. According to Arctech, South Africa has added 1.1 GW of new solar capacity in 2024, with national targets set at 8.4 GW by 2030. Arctech has confirmed that it shipped 6.2 GW of solar trackers to the Middle East and Africa in 2024.
