Japan-based AEON and JERA Group concluded a memorandum to launch a joint initiative supplying surplus power from rooftop solar installations to AEON Retail stores in Japan’s Chubu region starting August 1, 2025. The power was aggregated by JERA Cross and delivered through Chubu Electric Power Miraiz. The scheme initially included newly operating solar facilities in the area, enabling an estimated 467,000 kWh supply annually, projected to reduce CO2 emissions by 197 t, equivalent to about 150 households. The companies planned to expand the scheme nationwide and continued working on rooftop solar-based decarbonization solutions aligned with AEON’s 2040 zero-emission target and JERA’s 2050 net-zero goal.
