Abu Qir Fertilizers and Chemicals Industries Company, an Alexandria-based producer of nitrogen fertilizers, has obtained regulatory approval for an onsite solar power project serving its production facilities. According to the Company, the operational license was issued by Egyptian Electric Utility and Consumer Protection Regulatory Agency for a self-consumption solar installation. The project has a licensed capacity of 2.6 MW and has been approved for an operational period of 15 years. The solar station has been installed within existing plants to supply electricity for internal consumption. As per the Company, the project is intended to reduce electricity sourced from the national grid and internal generators. In the first quarter of FY 2025/2026, Abu Qir Fertilizers and Chemicals Industries Company reported net profit after tax of EGP 1.308 billion, compared with EGP 1.282 billion a year earlier.

Egypt’s Abu Qir Fertilizers has received EgyptERA approval for a 2.6 MW self-consumption solar plant licensed for 15 years, while reporting EGP 1.308 billion net profit in Q1 FY 2025/2026.
