Chile-based Abastible, a subsidiary of Copec Group, operates in the energy sector and has signed a 15-year electricity supply contract with Verano Energy. The agreement enabled Abastible to acquire all the energy generated by the Domeyko photovoltaic plant, an 83 MW facility with a battery energy storage system (BESS) of 660 MWh capacity. The Domeyko solar project, located south of Vallenar in Chile’s Atacama Region, involves an investment of $230 million and is expected to be operational by late 2026. The agreement with Abastible includes energy storage technology, ensuring a more stable and flexible electricity supply. The project supports the transition to an independent power producer (IPP) model, integrating advanced energy solutions for improved reliability.
