LONGi Green Energy announced that its hybrid passivated back contact (HPBC) 2.0 crystalline silicon module has achieved a record-breaking efficiency of 25.4%, verified by Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems. As per LONGi, this efficiency achievement positions it as the first Chinese company to secure a global crystalline silicon module efficiency record since 1988, breaking a 36-year hold by international competitors. This milestone will see LONGi listed in the Martin Green and NREL world records for crystalline silicon module efficiency. Surpassing Maxeon’s previous record of 24.9% efficiency, this advancement underscores a leap in solar technology, as crystalline silicon efficiency has progressed slowly in recent years.
