UK-based Lightsource bp has commenced construction on the Goulburn River hybrid project and the Woolooga Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The 585 MW (DC) Goulburn River solar farm, located near Merriwa, New South Wales. This project will produce 1.3 TWh of renewable energy annually, powering 225,000 homes and reducing 9.1 lac tons of carbon emissions each year. The project was selected under the Australian Government’s Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS) to support renewable energy and storage. The project is set to be operational by the end of 2026.
